Scientific bases and solutions for planning high-rise new urban areas towards green in Hanoi city

Abstract

The development of highrise neiborhoood is a popular global trend. The current situation of developing new highrise urban areas in Hanoi has revealed many not-green and unsustainable socioeconomic issues. Vietnamese planning laws and standards does not have any regulation which is directly related to highrise new urban area, neither to green development goals. This article introduces concepts, overview of several main theoretical, legal and practical research results and proposes principles and solutions related to the planning highrise new urban areas in Hanoi city towards green objectives. The planning solutions are for three models - which have been formed based on variations of new urban areas in practice. They are: relatively close residential unit, open residential unit, cluster of residential area.
