Abstract

Due to the typical living habits of mountainous people, who often reside in scattered areas rather than concentrated settlements, and the unfavorable terrain for installing and deploying industrial brick pressing machines, this study has focused on surveying and manufacturing a manual pressing machine for self-locking unburnt clay bricks. The machine primarily uses hill soil combined with cement, water, and additives. It features a mechanical structure to ensure stability during the brick production process, easy transportation, simple operation and maintenance, utilization of local labor resources, and low cost. After manufacturing, the pressing machine was transferred and successfully applied in a housing project in Con Cuong district, Nghe An. The study and manufacturing results of the manual pressing machine for self-locking unburnt clay bricks demonstrate that it is a suitable solution for brick production in the northern mountainous region, where traffic conditions are still limited.
