Abstract

ABSTRACT

The content of the article presents the calculation, simulation and analysis in evaluation of stability and settlement of ground under shallow foundation accounting on change of physicomechanical characteristics of soil after wetting. The analysis results show that bearing capacity can be significantly reduced and cause damage when soaked in water. In comparison with predicted settlement based on result of compression of saturated sample, the settlement considering collapse characteristic is significantly larger and exceeds the allowable limit, which can cause instability of structure. The analysis results show the causes of damage to building's components and attentions in calculation, design of shallow foundations on ground in the Southeast region.
