Application of ultra high performance concrete in large span girders

Abstract

Ultra High Performance Concrete is an advanced concrete that has been developed over thirty years. The components of UHPC are rigorously optimized with a water-to-cement ratio smaller than 0.25. UHPC offers a wide range of structural applications because of its outstanding mechanical properties and durability. This material is particularly suitable for structures that are subjected to heavy loads, long spans, and aggressive conditions such as corrosion. With the aim of promoting understanding and enhancing the application of this material in the construction sector in Vietnam, the current research provides an overview and practical insights into the application of UHPC in large-span girder structures.
