Common data environment according to ISO 19650
Abstract
In Vietnam, particularly subsequent to the adoption of Building Information Modelling (BIM), as approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 2500/2016/QD-TTg, aimed at enhancing productivity and efficiency in construction investment, as well as the formal adoption roadmap of BIM, as approved in Decision No. 238/2023/QD-TTg, the requirement to apply BIM has become increasingly imperative for the construction industry. When employing BIM, all stakeholders involved collaborate within a common data environment (CDE), which, in turn, enhances managerial capabilities and streamlines the exchange of information. Through theoretical research methods, this article outlines and describes the content of CDE in accordance with international standards such as ISO 19650 and relevant standards. With this synthesis, stakeholders in the Vietnamese construction sector can augment their knowledge of CDE and apply it appropriately to ensure effectiveness in the digitalization of the construction industry.
