Abstract

The riverbank erosion, caused by various influencing factors, leads to instability and damage to human lives, structures, and infrastructure. Particularly in recent years, the Mekong Delta region has frequently experienced severe riverbank erosion. To assess the factors affecting the protective structures of the riverbanks, in addition to the impacts of waves and currents, there are also influences from external loads generated by human activities during construction and operation. The author simulates the problem of external loads caused by human activities leading to riverbank instability and proposes solutions for the sustainable stability of riverbank protection structures using the Plaxis 2D software.
