Abstract

Loading and the load-carrying capacities of structural members are considered deterministic quanlities in structural design. Although, loading and the load- carrying capacities of structural members are random variables or sources of uncertaintly in reality. Due to the fact that the parameters of structural analyses are variables, structures must be designed to serve their function with failural probability. The paper researches a effective simple method, the first order reliability method, to analyse reliability of trusses that take into account some of the sources of uncertainty in design. The result of paper can explaint the reasons of the unsafe real structures.
