Design of coral concrete mixtures
Abstract
This paper presents the results of research and design of coral concrete mixes with durability levels B15, B20, and B22.5 (using coral sand, coral stone, and seawater). The results show that using coral and seawater materials to replace sand, crushed stone, and water is feasible. Compared to construction norms, when considering each concrete mix with an equivalent durability level, the design mixes have a higher amount of cement from 17.4% to 22.3% to compensate for the bearing capacity. Weak reduction due to coral aggregate being inferior to normal crushed stone aggregate.
