Communication in Construction Projects using BIM

Abstract

Efficient communication within the construction industry constitutes a fundamental aspect crucial to project success. However, effectively executing communication has perennially posed challenges due to the industry's fragmented, dynamic nature, involving numerous stakeholders (clients, consultants, contractors, authorities), resulting in subpar communication practices. This research delves into the potential impact of implementing Building Information Modeling (BIM) in communication in construction projects. The findings indicate that BIM serves as a valuable mechanism for enhancing collaboration and communication among stakeholders, given their close involvement throughout the design-to-construction phases. Additionally, the study identifies pivotal protocols for successful BIM integration in construction projects.
