Abstract

This article focuses on researching the application of rooftop water tanks in high-rise buildings to reduce the effects of earthquake loads, also known as liquid dampers (TLD). Using Abaqus software to simulate and analyze structural system dynamics for a 21-storey building with a water tank according to a 3D model. By changing the height of the water tank and the volume of water in the tank, the effects of natural oscillation frequency, peak displacement, and shear force value will be studied. The achieved results show that water tanks play a very important role in reducing the impact of earthquake loads on structures.
