Abstract
Before 2011, in Binh Duong Province, there was no community study to quantify the diabetes prevalence as a foundation information to build diabetes prevention and control plans for citizens, especially for those whose age group are at risk. That is the reason to conduct a cross-sectional descriptive study on a sample of 1920 people aged 30 to 69 years old in 30 communes in Binh Duong province, collected by PPS method from September to November 2011. The analysis was adjusted based on population. The results have defined that the diabetes prevalence is 6.1%. The older the people with the higher the waist circumference and the waist/hip ratio or the less physically active people and the incorrect usage of fat will have a higher risk compared to normal/good people. The more people exposed to risk factors, the more likely they will have diabetes with a significant difference (p<0.01).
