IDENTIFYING THE VALUES OF HISTORICAL DISSEMINATION THROUGH SOME HISTORICAL-THEMED CẢI LƯƠNG PLAYS FROM 1975-1986

Abstract

Cải lương, a traditional theatrical art genre, has become an effective means of conveying historical messages, especially through works referring to famous historical figures such as Bà Trưng, Queen Mother Dương Vân Nga... Analyzing the content of the script, performance form, and cultural and artistic elements in the Cải lương plays Tiếng trống Mê Linh, Queen Mother Dương Vân Nga, Cau Tho Yen Ngua (The verse and the saddle), the paper “Identifying the values of historical dissemination through some historical-themed Cải lương plays from 1975-1986” shows that these Cải lương plays reflect and recreate important historical events of Vietnam in the past. Through the depiction of historical figures and conflict situations in the Cải lương plays, the composer has shown the combination of historical elements and artistic imagination elements. The study implies that traditional Cải lương art is not only a means of entertainment but also has educational value, contributing to the formation of awareness of national history and culture.
