THE SITUATION OF PART-TIME WORK OF MATHEMATICS STUDENTS AT THU DAU MOT UNIVERSITY

Abstract

The study uses statistical analysis methods such as descriptive statistics, parameter estimation, and statistical hypothesis testing with the support of SPSS software to describe the current situation of part-time jobs among Mathematics students at Thu Dau Mot University in early 2025. The research results show that about 58% of Mathematics students work part-time; the main part-time jobs of Mathematics students are tutoring, teaching, or teaching assistants at cultural centers, accounting for 74%; Only 7.8% of Mathematics students only do other part-time jobs such as sales, service, bartending, etc.; Some Mathematics students work both as tutors and other jobs; Nearly 60% of Mathematics students think that part-time jobs affect their academic performance but not much. Many students work part-time not only to earn money but also to practice the necessary skills for future work; The average part-time work time of Mathematics students is 16.188 hours/week and the standard deviation is 12.858 hours/week; The average income from part-time jobs of Mathematics students is 2.965 million/month and the standard deviation is 1.7053 million/month; With a significance level of 5%, the group of students who do part-time jobs related to teaching has a lower average number of part-time hours per week but the average income is equivalent when compared to students who do other part-time jobs such as sales, service, etc.
