ANALYSIS OF SOME APPLICATIONS OF THE EXPONENTIAL FUNCTION IN OLYMPIAD-TYPE PROBLEMS FOR UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

Abstract

The exponential function plays a very important role in mathematics due to its special properties related to its derivative and antiderivative. The exploitation of the properties of the exponential function has been carried out in many different areas, such as problem solving and finding solutions of differential equations. In this paper, we study several applications of the exponential function in solving types of problems that often appear in Mathematical Olympiad examinations for university students. In particular, we analyze several bases or indications showing that the exponential function can be used to handle such problems. These analyses may be useful for students who are interested in studying and practicing Olympiad-type problems for university students.
