CULTURAL CHARACTERISTIC TYPE OF SOUTHWEST OF VIETNAM THROUGH “HUONG RUNG CA MAU” OF SON NAM

Abstract

Interdisciplinary research is a primary trend in the present time. Cultural featured research via literature is that follows this trend. The article surveys the cultural characteristics expressed through typical literary works. Based on the Vietnamese character system of the southwestern region determined by Tran Ngoc Them by the theory of artistic type, the article examines the expression of this cultural personality type through the work "Huong rung Ca Mau" by Son Nam. The research results show that this literary work has reflected in great detail the key cultural characteristics of people in the South West region: the harmony with the river, the respect for magnanimity, the directness, the tolerance, the practicality, the openness. This research contributes to further suggesting the analysis of literary works in the interdisciplinary direction, especially with the Culturology.
