SOME CONTRIBUTION OF PATRIOTIC LANDOWNERS OF NAM KY IN THE DONG DU MOVEMENT

Abstract

In the early years of the twentieth century, the movements initiated by Duy Tan scholars and patriotic petty bourgeois intellectuals were a new breeze in the movement for national liberation in Vietnam. Particularly in Nam Ky, struggle activities took place excitingly and diversely in many fields of politics, economy, culture - society,... with the participation of many classes, among them there were a large number of ministries progressive patriotic landlords participated from the beginning and made many active contributions. In many different ways, the progressive patriotic landowners in Nam Ky have directly or indirectly participated in the national liberation struggle movements, from contributing funds, participating in the founding of organizations department of finance and banking with the goal of gradually becoming self-reliant in the country's economy, to activities to promote the national spirit on the press front, to invest in children to study abroad, and to become a pioneer in acquiring advanced knowledge. This article mentions some contributions of patriotic landowners in Nam Ky in the Dong Du movement in terms of two aspects: talent and material contributions. On that basis, this paper shows a number of contributions of the Dong Du movement to the anti-French activities of the people of Nam Ky in the early twentieth century.
