Abstract
The article assesses the basic information technology (IT) skills of students from non-IT majors at Thanh Dong University, including those in health, engineering, economics, languages, and law. Based on the analysis of 80 randomly selected exams, the results show that students in the economics field demonstrate the highest level of IT proficiency, followed by engineering, while students in the health and law fields have lower proficiency levels. These results reflect limitations in the current IT curriculum at the university and differences in the IT usage needs of each field of study. Based on this analysis, the article proposes solutions to improve the training program, such as enhancing practical learning through real-world projects, updating teaching methods, upgrading facilities and learning resources, and encouraging students to self-study IT. These solutions aim to improve the quality of IT training, helping non-IT major students build solid foundational IT skills and confidently integrate into the digital job market
