Evaluation of the Treatment Effects of Sciatic Nerve Pain Using Electroacupuncture

Abstract

This study presents effectiveness evaluation method of treating large sciatic nerve pain with electroacupuncture for wind-cold and low-cold conditions and monitor unwanted effects of electroacupuncture. We comparing before and after treatment with 33 patients were diagnosed with sciatica and were treated with electroacupuncture at the acupoints Kidney Du, Chi Qi, Dai Truong Du, Tieu Truong Du, Wei Trung, Thua Son, Kunlun, An Mon, and Thua Phu. After 30 days of treatment, pain symptoms were clearly improved (p<0.05). No patient had unwanted complications such as needle punctures, bleeding, broken needles and allergies. Electroacupuncture to treat sciatica is an effective and safe treatment method (p<0.05).
