CURRENT STATUS OF AGRICULTURAL LAND USE IN GIA LAM DISTRICT, HANOI CITY

Abstract

The study aims to assess the current situation and propose solutions to improve the efficiency of agricultural land use in Gia Lam district. Secondary data were collected from agencies related to land use. Primary data were collected from direct, random surveys using pre-printed questionnaires of 45 households and 47 officials related to agricultural land use in Gia Lam district. The Likert scale was used to assess the level of influence of factors. Gia Lam district has 5,836.7 hectares of agricultural land, of which 46.67% is used to grow leafy vegetables and tubers, 44.67% is used to grow flowers and ornamental plants; 8.89% is used to grow fruit trees. Ornamental flowers and fruit trees are the most profitable crops. Agricultural land use is affected by natural conditions, socio-economic conditions, infrastructure, and agricultural management. The group of natural conditions has the greatest impact according to the assessment of households and officials with average assessment scores of 3.93 and 4.22, respectively. To further improve the efficiency of agricultural land use in Gia Lam district, it is necessary to simultaneously implement the 5 proposed groups of solutions.
