Abstract

Structural settlement monitoring is a high-precision geodetic task aimed at determining changes in the elevations of monitoring points during the period when a structure is affected by loads, geological conditions, and environmental factors. To ensure the reliability and objectivity of the results, the monitoring process must be implemented in a coordinated manner, from network design and field measurements to data processing, requiring practitioners to possess solid geodetic expertise and a thorough understanding of structural characteristics. Deformation monitoring networks are repetitive measurement networks in which the configuration and positions of observation points are maintained consistently across monitoring cycles to ensure comparability of results. Based on this principle, the adjustment of measurement differences between two consecutive monitoring cycles is applied to determine settlement values. This method reduces computational workload, limits errors associated with separate cycle processing, and improves accuracy. Experimental results confirm that the proposed method is feasible and effective for practical structural settlement monitoring.
