Abstract
The study on the extraction of construction soil and vacant soil in HoangMai district - HaNoi city from Remote sensing image data is the process of assessing the efficiency of extraction of these two soil groups by using the indexed image extraction method and the image classification method. The efficiency of the indexed image extraction method is higher than that of the image classification method. In particular, the normalized difference built-up index (NDBI) indicates the highest efficiency with an accuracy of 95.83%, the urban index (UI) 91.30%, the enhanced built-up and bareness index (EBBI) 84.78%, and the image classification method produces the lowest efficiency with an accuracy of 72.09%. Because of the complexity of spectral reflectance behavior and accuracy in the process of sample file description, the image classification method produces the lowest efficiency. The indexed image extraction method helps overcome most of the disadvantages of the image classification method. Therefore, results are produced more quickly and efficiently, especially NDBI image. On such basis, with the NDBI threshold image, the indexed image extraction method helps determine that the construction land area and the vacant land area in Hoang Mai district are 1,621.08ha (40.35%) and 78.75ha (1.96%) respectively. This will be an indicator for the level of urban development as well as environmental quality in Hoang Mai district.
