Some factors related to the rate of using health care services at commune health stations among people in La Gi town, Binh Thuan province in the period of 2019-2020

Abstract

A cross-sectional descriptive study aimed at identifying factors related to the proportion of utilizing curative care services at commune health stations among people in La Gi Town, Binh Thuan Province, in the period of 2019 - 2020. Multistage random sampling techniques were used. The main variables were using health care at commune health stations, population characteristics, and levels of illness. 3.596 people were investigated. Results showed that the proportion of ill people in the 4 weeks before the survey was 8.8%, and the percentage of people who were ill using the services at the stations was 28.8%, of which 100% had health insurance cards. Patients from the poor and near-poor categories who visited health stations for medical examination and treatment were higher than the rest (64.7% and 60% compared to 24.7%) with OR (odds ratio) of 5.58 (95% CI: 1.94-16.03) and 5.56 (95% CI: 1.54-13.52) were statistically significant (p < 0.01). Patients living in communes had higher medical examination and treatment at health stations than those living in wards (51.7% versus 7.3%) with an OR of 13.53 (95%CI: 6.28-29.19) is statistically significant (p < 0.001). Conclusion: There were some factors related to the proportion of use of health care services at commune health stations in La Gi Town, Binh Thuan Province. These factors must be considered to improve people’s access to the stations.
