Studying on the concept of Dark figure of crime

Abstract

Dark figure of crime have been “silently” causing damage to both individuals and society without being detected and handled. Its existence leads to the inaccurate description of crime situation, the confusion in crime prevention activities and in evaluation of this activity’s effectiveness. Therefore, criminologists and practical activists on crime prevention have paid much attention and research to it. This article raises the need to study dark figure of crime, scientific views on its concept, then the author gives out a complete concept of dark figure of crime and its meaning in Vietnamese Criminology.
