Principles of resolving civil matters in criminal cases under the Criminal Procedure Code and some recommendations for improvement

Civil matters in criminal cases arises when a crime occurs but are often given less attention than issues of criminal liability during case resolution. In Vietnam, the Criminal Procedure Code has long provided the principle of resolving civil matters in criminal cases but remained insufficiency in substantive provisions, leading to difficulties and obstacles in practical application. This article analyzes certain theoretical aspects and legal provisions concerning the principle of resolving civil matters in criminal cases; identifies current limitations and obstacles; then proposes recommendations for improving relevant provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code regarding this principle in Vietnam.
