Criminal policy for driving under the influence – American experience and lessons for Vietnam

Abstract

Driving under the influence is an extremely dangerous behavior that threatens traffic safety and becomes a global problem. It can be seen that severe punishments by criminal sanctions affect to prevent DUI acts, helping to reduce the risk of traffic accidents. The article presents American experience on criminal policy for DUI acts and proposes to improve Vietnam’s criminal law on this issue.
