Abstract

During the arduous yet glorious years of resistance against the United States to save the country, wartime letters not only provided valuable information and documentation about the reality of life in combat but also expressed the lofty ideals of volunteer youth generations in the 20th century, including the spirit of “Three Readiness”. So, how was this spirit manifested in wartime letters? Using statistical, analytical, and synthetic methods, this article examines the historical development of the movement and the specific manifestations of the “Three Readiness” spirit as reflected in the content of wartime letters. Specifically, the study highlights the readiness to enlist, the readiness to fight with optimism on the battlefield, and the readiness to go anywhere and undertake any task as demonstrated by Vietnamese youth during the resistance war against the United States.
