INNOVATING METAL CUTTING PRACTICE MODEL BY ELECTRIC ARC METHOD USING VIRTUAL REALITY TECHNOLOGY
Keywords:
Abstract
This article focuses on studying the principles of metal cutting by the traditional electric arc method using traditional tools, machinery and equipment. Thereby, proposing solutions to innovate metal cutting practices from the traditional electric arc method on real equipment to the practical method on virtual reality technology. Accordingly, the practical method will be to design and build 3D models of traditional equipment, tools and instruments such as: Welding torches, current regulators, metal iron workpieces, protective gear... using 3D graphic design technologies such as Unity 3D, Maya 3D, 3Ds Max... and build virtual simulation exercises of the metal cutting practice process in the form of visual virtual reality models using OpenSG graphics library, programming languages such as C#. The results of the paper will build a virtual practice model of metal cutting using the electric arc method with automatic step-by-step instructions of the metal cutting process. At the same time, the article will also provide assessments and analysis of the quality of practical lessons at vocational training institutions in Thai Nguyen province.
