Abstract

This study explores the current situation of organizing teaching activities for the content "Mushrooms" and "Plants" in science subjects in the direction of scientific practice in primary schools in Ho Chi Minh City. This study uses qualitative and quantitative data analysis methods with a sample size of 118 teachers. The study addresses two main research questions: the organizational process and the effectiveness of experimental teaching and practice activities. Scientific practice-oriented teaching is mainly used in practice and review hours. Lesson plans designed by teachers in the direction of experimental practice are still based on the basis and requirements of the 2018 General Education Program. Applying experimental practice helps students better absorb the lesson content, and students can develop abilities. Favourable factors when implementing are mainly due to the interdisciplinary nature and the learning objects being close to reality. On the contrary, designing and implementing practical experimental activities effectively requires more appropriate resources and materials, and limitations due to time, classroom space, and student skills are complex unfavourable factors in implementing this activity.
