Abstract

This study aims to analyze the current situation and propose measures to develop coherent speech for 5-6 year-old children by activities to familiarization with story work in preschools in ethnic minority areas. We surveyed 27 kindergarten teachers of 5-6 year-old; and 45 children 5-6 year-old in two preschools in ethnic minority areas in Bac Kan province. Research results show that most teachers are correctly aware of the role and meaning of developing coherent speech with 5-6 year-old children in preschool. However, the current organizational situation and organizational methods still have certain limitations. Based on an analysis of the current situation, we propose 3 measures to develop coherent speech for 5-6 year-old children through activities to familiarize children with story works in preschools in ethnic minority areas. The results of this article help researchers and preschool teachers better understand the current state of coherent speech development for 5-6 year-old children through activities to familiarization with story work in preschools in ethnic minority areas. From there, preschool teachers can apply these measures in language development for children in preschool.
