Abstract

PWM is a modulation method commonly applied in multi-level converters due to its simple implementation and effectiveness in certain cases. The process of applying and verifying PWM modulation for MMC multi-level converters is a big challenge due to the complexity of MMC power circuit construction techniques. This paper presents the process of analyzing, implementing, applying PS-PWM modulation and simulation and experimental results of PS-PWM modulation for MMC to demonstrate the operation process when MMC converts power from DC to AC. The process is carried out from analyzing the operation of MMC applying PS-PWM modulation method, followed by performing system simulation, evaluating simulation results. Finally, building an experimental MMC system applying PS-PWM modulation based on FPGA microcontroller to demonstrate the operation results compared to theory. The results showed that MMC works well under experimental conditions similar to theory and simulation. This is the basis for developing projects related to MMC.
