Abstract

This study analyzes the role and impact of generative artificial intelligence in supporting learning in graphic design education, using a combination of quantitative data analysis and expert interviews. The findings indicate that generative artificial intelligence offers benefits such as idea development support, time efficiency, and expanded access to creative tools. However, overreliance on the subject poses significant challenges related to originality, academic integrity, intellectual property, and the potential decline in students’ creative thinking abilities. Feedback from lecturers and survey results from students consistently emphasize that generative artificial intelligence should be regarded as an assistive tool rather than a replacement for human creativity in both learning and teaching processes. Integrating artificial intelligence into educational programs requires clear direction, proper regulatory policies, and a strong understanding from educators regarding the technology’s mechanisms and limitations. Only under these conditions can artificial intelligence fulfill its intended supportive role while preserving the core values of creative education, including independent thinking, personalization, and professional ethics.
