Abstract

The Border Guard not only plays a core role in protecting national sovereignty and border security but is also an important force contributing to promoting socio-economic development in coastal border areas. In Vinh Long province, the Border Guard force has been coordinating and advising local authorities in many practical activities such as hunger eradication and poverty reduction, new rural construction, community health care and improving the material and spiritual life of border residents. The purpose of this research is to analyze and clarify the role of the Border Guard of Vinh Long province in socio-economic development in the coastal border area, thereby assessing the level of contribution of the force to the comprehensive transformation of the locality. The qualitative research method was implemented based on the collection and analysis of documents, materials and official reports of the locality and the Border Guard force; at the same time, conducting in-depth interviews with officers and soldiers at border posts, local authorities and people living in the coastal border area to collect practical information to serve the analysis process. The research results show that the Border Guard force of Vinh Long province plays a key role in supporting local socio-economic development through sustainable poverty reduction models, social security programs, community health care activities and initiatives to participate in new rural construction, thereby contributing to improving the quality of life and strengthening the stability of the coastal border area.
