KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE AND PREVENTIVE INTENTION ABOUT CERVICAL CANCER OF THE FIRST YEAR NURSING STUDENTS IN THAI NGUYEN UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE PHARMACY IN 2018

Abstract

Objectives: To examine knowledge and attitudes towards cervical cancer, intention prevention measures and the related factors of first year nursing students at Thai Nguyen University of Medicine. Subjects and methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 132 nursing students. Study subjects were surveyed using self-administered questionnaires. Results: The attitudes of the subjects were 30.8 ± 4.3 (Min = 16, Max = 40), the knowledge scores were 10.9 ± 2.9. 58 subjects have less knowledgeable, 74 subjects more knowledgeable. Intended vaccination 80 subjects intending to vaccinate and 52 subjects have not planned vaccination. There is a positive correlation between knowledge and attitudes (p <0.05). Variables "Have heard about cervical cancer", "Cervical cancer can be prevented with vaccines", "HPV infection is a cause for causing cervical cancer", "Women with STIs are at risk of cervical cancer higher" are predictors of the probability that subjects will be able to vaccinate.
