NATURE OF CUSTOMARY LAWS

Abstract

Customary laws, customs, conventions... are a system of rules and practices that are commonly performed among ethnic minority communities. These norms are recognized by the whole community, which creates unity and balance in society. Customary law is also the knowledge of the natural environment, upland cultivation, gathering, hunting, fishing; knowledge of the society and behaviors among people, knowledge of cultural life, rituals and customs... This study initially analyzes the concept, characteristics and functions of customary law in order to clarify its nature using the ethnographic perspective and methodology.
