OVERVIEW OF GOLD NANORODS: SYNTHESIS, OPTICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND APPLICATIONS
Abstract
This paper presents the review of gold nanorods from synthesis, optical properties, and their applications in biomedical technologies. We begin this overview of gold nanorods by summarizing their optical properties. Their different synthetic methods are then outlined with an emphasis on the seed-mediated chemical growth. In particular, we describe in detail the mechanism of formation and development of gold nanorods in the solution. The final section details current studies aimed at applications in the biological and biomedical fields.Downloads
