Abstract

Strobilanthes helicta T. Anders., a new record for the flora of Vietnam belonging to Acanthaceae, was studied and described. Before, this species only distributed in India, Bhutan, Mianma, Nepal, China. In this paper, the authors describe fully about original reference and relevant references, type, morphological characteristics, distribution, ecology, line drawing and picture, the table compares the characteristics with the closing species (Strobilanthes pateriformis Lindau, Strobilanthes rostrata Y. F. Deng & J. R. I. Wood). Strobilanthes helicta is similar to Strobilanthes pateriformis and Strobilanthes rostrata but difference by the type of inflorescence, flowers, ovary and style. The vouchers were collected in Bat Xat Nature Reserve, Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province, preserved in the Herbarium of the Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources, Hanoi, Vietnam.
