EXPLOITING THE VALUE OF THEN PRACTICE IN TOURISM DEVELOPMENT BASED ON EXPERIENCE OF SOME TYPES OF FOLK PERFORMANCE

Abstract

The Then practice of Vietnam’s Tay, Nung and Thai ethnic groups not only is a ritual but also a folk art. By the method of document analysis, comparison, in-depth interview, the article has pointed out the strengths and limitations of Vietnamese folk performance as a tourism resource. From the experience of developing tourism based on traditional art (through the case of Xam, Chau van, Hue traditional folk song...), the authors has proposed some solutions and ideas for unique tourism products associated with Then performance. The research results contributed to diversifying tourism products in the Northern mountainous region.
