CRYSTAL STRUCTURE AND MAGNETIC PROPERTIES OF (Sm, Co) CODOPED BiFeO3 CERAMICS

Abstract

Ceramic samples of Bi0.9Sm0.1Fe1-xCoxO3 (x = 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08 và 0.1) (BSFCO) were synthesized by solid-state reaction. The structural analysis on the X-ray diffraction patterns revealed a single-phase of the R3c rhombohedral structure of BiFeO3 and small trace of Bi25FeO40 and CoFeO4 (CFO) impurities phase. A phonon vibration of individual phase was studied in the Raman scattering spectra. The microstructure showed a gradual decrease of grain size with increasing doping concentration. The weak ferromagnetism was observed with a high saturation magnetization of 0.705 emu/g for x = 0.02 and 4.756 emu/g for x = 0.1. The magnetic properties were strongly influence by CFO impurity.
