Abstract

The Northwest is a very poor region with the lowest gross domestic product per capita of all economic regions of the country. The population of the region is over 4.7 million people, of whom 79.15% are ethnic minorities. To promote the development of the region, one of the decisive factors is to have high-quality human resources for ethnic minorities in the region. In recent years, the Northwest has strived to train thousands of ethnic minorities who graduated from university level or higher. However, at present, a large proportion of ethnic minorities who have graduated from university level or higher in the Northwest are unable to find a job. This situation causes pressing problems which demand to be resolved. This study used the sampling survey method to find out the current status of employment and the reasons for unemployment of ethnic minorities who have graduated from university level or higher in the Northwest and proposes a number of policy solutions to create jobs for them.
