Abstract

According to Globocan 2020, Vietnam had a total of 1825563 new cases and 122690 deaths linked to cancer. In recent decades, stomach cancer treatment has made remarkable progress. However, the 5-year survival rate of gastric cancer patients is still low, less than 30%. In this study, we conducted to qualify chemical composition and evaluated the inhibitory effect of ethanol extract from Ardisia villosa leaves on gastric cancer MKN45 cell line. Qualitative results revealed that the ethanol extract of Ardisia villosa species contained saponins, tannins but not triterpenoids and alkaloids. The Ardisia villosa ethanol extract had a proliferation inhibitiory ability and changed MKN45 gastric cancer cell morphorlogy. The IC50 value was determined to be 144.54 µg/mL. Our study showed that Ardisia villosa had the potential to inhibit gastric cancer cell proliferation.
