Abstract

This paper showed the results of one-step fabrication of rice husk char/Fe3O4 (RHF) nanocomposite using ultrasonic-assited co-precipitattion method for application of sulfamethoxazole (SMX) antibiotic treatment in aqueous environment. The characteristics of surface, structure and magnetization properties of RHF were examined using scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), saturation magnetization and X-ray diffraction. Application ability of RHF was also investigated by the removal of SMX in aqueous solution using adsorption method. The obtained results exhibited the applied potential of RHF for treatment of SMX as well as other antibiotics in actual wastewater.
