Abstract

This study to determine relevant factors from maternal diseases to the results of mechanical ventilation treatment in newborns treated at the Pediatric Department of Bach Mai Hospital. This methods were to cross-sectional description to 51 newborns had to invasive ventilation at Pediatrics Department, Bach Mai Hospital from 1 June 2019 to 31 May 2020. Neonates need to be treated for invasive ventilation, accounting for 15.1% of the total number of infants with respiratory failure, in which the ratio of boys/girls was 2/1. The group of mothers who had disease was 68.6%, much higher than group of the mother without any disease was 31.4% with p<0.05. The average time of invasive mechanical ventilation of the mother group with disease was 8.5±7.6 days, higher than group of the mother without disease was 4.1±3.3 days. The rate of successful ventilation in the group weighing less than 1000gr was 75%. Babies born from mothers healthy had rate of successful treatment was 93.4% higher than the other group was 88.6%. Mortality rate was 9.8%. Babies born to maternal diseases have higher mean invasive ventilatory times and lower success rates than born to mothers without the disease.
