Abstract

This research focuses on assessing the current status and variation of area, yield, intensification as well as economic efficiency of various types of rice cultivation land use of the Red River Delta. The study was carried out by collecting and inheriting documents, surveying households and assessing the economic efficiency of the land use process methods. The results show that, in 2018, the whole region had 588,357 ha of rice cultivation land, accounting for 15.04% of the country's rice land area. In 10 years (2010 - 2018), the paddy land area in the region fluctuated, decreased by 31,589 ha with an average decrease of 3,948.6 ha/year. Most of the provinces (10/11 provinces) have reduced paddy land area (except Quang Ninh province), the average decrease is from 143 to 800 ha/year, of which Hanoi city deduces the most. The level of rice intensification is high, the rice land use coefficient varies from 1.85 times (2010) to 1.77 times (2018). Rice productivity of the whole region in the period 2010 - 2012 increased and decreased from 2012 - 2018. LUT5 has the highest economic efficiency, the lowest efficiency is LUT2.
