Abstract

Green-oriented agricultural development is an effective solution to improve economic efficiency and protect the environment in agricultural production. This study was conducted to assess the status of green-oriented agricultural development in Thua Thien Hue province. The main methods used in the study include: secondary data collection, field surveys, household interview and data analysis. Results have showed that a number of green agricultural models have been formed and developed in Thua Thien Hue province, contributing to reducing environmental pollution and improving agricultural productivity. However, the province's green-oriented agricultural production still faces many difficulties and challenges such as small-scale and unsustainable production; low competitiveness; vulnerability to the impact of natural disasters and complicated epidemics; market volatility; and lack of connection along the value chain in agricultural production. To promote green-oriented agricultural development in the coming time, Thua Thien Hue province needs to synchronize policies on agricultural land associated with green growth; support people and businesses to apply green agriculture through payment for environmental services; promote science and technology transfer; trainto raise awareness on green agriculture; and implement digital transformation in agriculture.
