Abstract

ZnSe semiconductor nanocrystals (NCs) doped with Co2+ ions were successfully fabricated by wet chemical. The structure and composition of the samples were analyzed through X-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). The successful doping of Co2+ ions into the ZnSe host lattice was demonstrated through XRD, absorption and photoluminescene (PL) spectra. The band gap, lattice constant, crystallite size and size of Co-doped ZnSe NCs were determined through XRD and absorption spectra. The optical properties of the samples were investigated through absorption and PL spectra. The mechanism of the emission processes have been studied and explained in detail. The magnetic properties of the samples were studied through magnetic hysteresis curve measurement, the results showed that the ZnSe NCs are diamagnetic while the Co-doped ZnSe NCs have weak ferromagnetic properties. The magnetic of Co-doped ZnSe NCs has been mentioned and explained. Co-doped ZnSe NCs with optical and magnetic properties strongly dependent on Co concentrations make them potentially useful for opto-electronic fields.
