EVALUASION AND SELECTION OF HYBRID RICE VARIETY LY2099 FOR THE NORTHERN PROVINCE

Abstract

Results of evaluation and selection of three-line hybrid rice variety LY2099 for 3 crops (Spring 2013, Season 2013, Spring 2014) in the Northern provinces. The experiment was arranged in a narrow area, in a randomized block design (RCD), with 3 replications. The results have identified the variety LY2099 as promising: has short growth duration, 125 days (Spring crop), 106 days (Summer crop); average yield of 60.84 quintals/ha, equivalent to Nhi Uu 838 variety and 1.1% higher than LC25 variety; good quality rice and rice quality (point 4), better than Nhi uu 838 and LC25; hard tree, good fall resistance; resistant to moderately infected brown planthopper (level 5.7), moderately infected leaf blast disease (level 4.1), moderately infected leaf blight. The variety LY2099 was officially recognized in 2018.
