THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CLINICAL, PARACLINICAL MANIFESTATIONS AND SERUM IRON OF CHRONIC HEART FAILURE PATIENTS

Abstract

Iron deficiency in patients with chronic heart failure is a common condition with an incidence of 30-50%. Iron deficiency is an independent factor in aggravating quality of life, outcomes of heart failure patients. Iron supplementation treatment for patients improves symptoms, quality of life, admission rate. But in clinical practice, iron deficiency in patients with chronic heart failure has not been given appropriate attention. This study in order to analyze the relationship between clinical, paraclinical manifestations and serum iron in subjects. The research method was used is a descriptive, cross – sectional study. Study subjects were 60 chronic heart failure patients at cardiovascular department from August 2021 to June 2022 in Thai Nguyen National hospital. The results showed that the rate of serum iron deficiency in patients with chronic heart failure was 38.3%, which 10.0% was absolute iron deficiency and 28.3% was functional iron deficiency. There is a correlation between serum iron deficiency with the NYHA classification, and many clinical and laboratory features of patients with chronic heart failure are associated with serum iron deficiency.
