ENGLISH AWARENESS, LEVEL OF ABILITY AND LEARNING METHODS OF TOURISM STUDENTS, DA NANG ARCHITECTURE UNIVERSITY

Abstract
With the characteristic as a regular form of communication with tourists from many countries, English plays a very important role in the tourism industry. However, the English skill of tourism staff is still limited, which fails to meet the needs of businesses. For tourism students, it is very necessary to cultivate and improve their English skills during their university time, which is also an opportunity for them to get a better job position after graduation. By survey method, the research has assessed the current status of English proficiency as well as the awareness of the importance of English and English learning methods among students of the Faculty of Tourism, Danang Architecture University currently. The results show that although they are aware that English is very important and necessary, students have not focused on learning English with active and effective learning methods, which leads to the fact that their English proficiency is still at an average level. In light of the research results, a number of suggestions for universities and students are given to improve the learning capacity and practical applicability for tourism students.
