Abstract

Jorge Luis Borges (J.L. Borges) is one of the pioneering authors of the Latin American fantasy literary movement. Besides poetry, short stories are a unique genre in his writing. J.L. Borges’s short stories are imbued with myth, restoring an existential corner full of doubt and hysteria, thereby stimulating the reader's co-creation ability. The article analyzes the manifestation of genre interaction in the short stories of J.L. Borges, pointing out aesthetic signals and innovations in terms of genre poetics. To achieve the purpose, the writer has applied the following methods: typological method, systematic method and comparative method. The main result of the article is to explain the manifestation of genre interaction in the short story J.L. Borges in two aspects: novel in short stories and memoir in short stories. Thereby, the writer wishes to affirm the position of J.L. Borges on the world literary scene, adding perspective on J.L. Borges’ short stories.
