RESTRUCTURING FISHERY BY SECTOR IN CA MAU PROVINCE FROM 2000 TO 2022

Abstract

This paper investigates the reality of fishery structural transformations of Ca Mau province. By analyzing secondary data, the paper clarifies the transformations in aquaculture sector of Ca Mau province over the last 20 years. With the implementation of the Resolution No. 09/2000/NQ-CP, the structure of Ca Mau's fishery industry has shifted considerably in a positive direction. The transformations of aquaculture clearly represented in two sectors, including aquaculture and fishing. In aquaculture sector, the structure of traditional aquatic area made up the highest proportion. The main product was shrimp. In fishing sector, the proportion of offshore fishing vessels was higher than coastal ones and increased slowly. The main product was fish. However, the fishing industry of Ca Mau had some limitations on the structure of types of aquatic products, insufficient offshore fishing vessels, poor aquaculture service sector. Overcoming these shortcomings means carrying out suitable solutions to foster the aquiculture industry of Ca Mau move forwards to sustainable development.
